Loaded gun detected at security checkpoint in Bellingham airport

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A loaded firearm was detected at a security checkpoint Tuesday morning at Bellingham International Airport, said officials with the Transportation Security Administration.

According to officials, a.22-caliber Derringer revolver, loaded with five rounds of ammunition, was detected during a routine screening of carry-on bags.

The gun belonged to a passenger boarding a flight to Reno.

The passenger was allowed to board his flight after turning the firearm over to an individual who was not traveling.
