Lane restrictions start Monday in Mercer Corridor Project

Updated:

SEATTLE - The Seattle Department of Transportation is putting drivers on notice about the start of a two-week construction project along the Mercer corridor starting Monday.

On Monday, there will be lane restrictions on eastbound Mercer Street for crews to install signal poles at the intersection of Mercer Street and Fairview Avenue North.

Two eastbound lanes on Mercer Street will remain open to traffic between Terry Avenue North and Fairview Avenue North.

Crews will work during off-peak hours between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays.

Vehicles will be routed around the work zone and Seattle police will be positioned to facilitate traffic flow.

On Tuesday, there will be late night lane restrictions on Valley Street and Terry Avenue North.

The lane restrictions will accommodate underground water main work.

Westbound Valley Street will be restricted to one lane between Boren Avenue North and Westlake Avenue North while crews work in the center lane.

Additionally, Terry Avenue North will be restricted to southbound traffic only between Valley Street and Mercer Street while crews work on the east side of the roadway.

Nighttime lane restrictions will be from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Flaggers will be positioned to maintain traffic flow and assist vehicles and equipment entering and exiting the work zone.
