Lakewood police dog fired for pot problem

LAKEWOOD, Wash. — A Lakewood police dog is off the job because his ability to sniff out marijuana could have become a liability.

Phelan, a former Lakewood police K-9,  can't differentiate between pot and other drugs.

He could mistakenly alert police to people possessing marijuana, which is now legal in Washington State.

Fortunately, Phelan already has a new job lined up at the Department of Corrections sniffing out drugs in prison cells.
