SEATTLE, Wa. - The 40th annual Seattle International Film Festival has arrived and Jimi Hendrix will be making his mark on Seattle once again.
“Jimi: All Is By My Side” will be on the big screen opening night at SIFF.
The film depicts the life of Seattle-born “Jimi Hendrix, before he was Jimi Hendrix.”

It focuses on a year when Hendrix moved to London in the 1960s and evolved into a spectacular rock star; at the time, he was nothing more than a backup guitarist.
The movie was directed by Academy Award winner John Ridley (“12 Years a Slave) and showcases Outkast’s Andre’ Benjamin as Jimi Hendrix.
The festival begins Friday and continues through June 8.
Locations include SIFF Cinema Uptown, Pacific Place, Lincoln Square, Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center, among others.
Featured films include “The Case Against 8,” a documentary following the battle to overturn California’s Proposition 8; “Beyond the Brick: A LEGO Brickumentary”; “Clownwise”; “Dior and I”; “Trust Me”; and Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon.”
