A Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier was killed in by an improvised explosion on Tuesday in Afghanistan.
KIRO 7 Eyewitness News partner, The News Tribune, reported the family of 25-year-old U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Joseph Lilly died from injuries sustained after stepping on an explosive device.
Lilly is the 14th soldier from JBLM soldier killed in Afghanistan this year.
Lilly is originally from Flint, Mich., and was deployed to Southern Afghanistan with the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division.
