• Injured hiker rescued near Index

    SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. - A rescue team with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office had to use a helicopter to get an injured hiker to safety Friday near Index.

    According to the Sheriff’s Office, the hiker, in his 50s, was walking across a patch of snow at the south end of Lake Blanca when he fell and broke his leg.

    A helicopter was brought in to help in the rescue efforts.

    Off-duty nurses were nearby and treated the hiker until rescue crews arrived.

    The hiker's injuries are not serious.
