Homemade bomb explodes outside Tacoma DOC office

TACOMA, Wash. — A small homemade bomb exploded outside a Department of Corrections field office Thursday afternoon in Tacoma.

DOC officials said the bomb exploded at about 3:30 p.m. at the base of the Tacoma Community Justice Center on South 28th Street.

No damage was done to the three-story building, which was locked down until 5 p.m. while police investigated.

The field office will be open Friday as usual.

The Tacoma Police Department is handling the investigation.
