Home shifts 3 feet off foundation during storm

ABERDEEN, Wash. — An Aberdeen woman has lost her home, at least temporarily, after it started sliding off its foundation during Monday’s storm.

Sharon Stanley, 75, said she first noticed the problem when she couldn't close the doors in her home.  Then she went outside.

Stanley said she saw her driveway and home had shifted 3 feet after a day of heavy stormwater runoff.

“(The city) came by and said ‘Your house is moving,” said Stanley.

Stanley said at first, she didn't want to leave her home because her two cats were still in the house.

But the city said it was too dangerous for Stanley to stay there.

The Red Cross is helping Stanley with a place to stay.

Animal control officers responded to get the cats out of the house safely.
