Highway 2 through Skykomish reduces speed limit

SKYKOMISH, Wash. — The speed limit on US Highway 2 through Skykomish will be changing from 60 mph down to 50 mph, said officials with the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The state Department of Transportation reduced the speed limit through Skykomish following an evaluation of travel speeds, roadway alignment, existing development and crash history.

According to officials, the goal is to reduce serious crashes with enhanced safety.

The highway is within the US 2 Traffic Safety Corridor.
