Injured trumpeter swan found at Mill Creek grocery store was shot

MILL CREEK, Wash. - Gunshot wounds were discovered on a trumpeter swan that was found injured at a Mill Creek grocery store, according to a spokesperson with the Sarvey Wildlife Care Center.

 

The swan was discovered at the Fred Meyer.

 

When staff at Sarvey Wildlife Care Center brought in the swan, there were no visible wounds from the buckshot. After an X-ray was done, staff members discovered the wounds, but could not tell if they were new or old shots.

 

According to a spokesperson at the care center, three pieces appear to be lodged in different spots on the swan.

 

The swan is currently in stable condition.

 

It is unknown at this time when the swan was shot.

 

The care center is currently working with the Trumpeter Swan Society to help the swan.
