Friends, family gather to remember former council member Cheryl Chow

SEAT — Friends and family gathered Saturday morning to remember former Seattle City Council member Cheryl Chow.

The memorial service was held at downtown Seattle’s Town Hall.

Chow died at age 66 from brain cancer in late March.

Chow served two terms on the City Council, and during her time, she helped create outreach programs for troubled kids. She was also a former member of the Seattle School Board.

Last summer, Chow announced she was gay and married her partner of 10 years at the beginning of March.
