Friends and family remember couple killed by falling tree

BOTHELL, Wash. — Family and friends gathered on Friday night to remember Tim Owen and Cheryl Reed.

The Bothell couple died on Dec. 21 after a snow-laden tree fell on their vehicle while they were driving on State Route 2 near Leavenworth.

The couple's son, two daughters and son-in-law were also in the vehicle. 27-year-old Jessica Owen, 22-year-old Jeremy Owen, 24-year old Jamie Owen-Mayer and her husband, 24-year-old Steven Mayer, were injured and taken to Central Washington Hospital. Three of them remained hospitalized on Friday.

More than 300 people attended Friday night’s candlelight vigil in the parking lot at Bothell High School. They honored the lives of Owen and Reed and prayed for their family.

A fund has been set up to help pay for the family’s medical expenses.

The address of the fund is Owen Meyer Family Relief Fund, 2020 Maltby Rd, PMB 298, Bothell, WA, 98021.
