• Former Lakes, UW football player dies in Hawaii


    HONOLULU, Hawaii - A former Lakes High School and University of Washington football player died Saturday morning at a Hawaii beach. 

    Hawaii News Now reported Honolulu Fire Department crews found 21-year-old Willis Wilson’s body off the Sandy Beach at about 8 a.m.

    According to Hawaii News Now, Wilson and two others stepped into the water when a large wave came down on them. Two of the three noticed Wilson was gone. After crews searched the water, shoreline and from the air, rescue personnel found Wilson unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Wilson was a running back for the University of Hawaii football team. He graduated from Lakewood’s Lakes High School in 2010 and attended the University of Washington for three years.
