Flames tear through 3 vehicles at RV dealership

GIG HARBOR, Wash. — Flames tore through an RV dealership in Pierce County Tuesday night, first burning vehicles then threatening the building.

The fire broke out shortly before 9:30 p.m. at Fife RV in Gig Harbor.

The fire started in one travel trailer, spread to two others, and came close to burning down the dealership building.

Firefighters said a man and his senior-aged father had been living in a trailer while a relative is in the hospital.

They had temporarily parked at the Fife RV Center waiting for their trailer to be serviced.

They were not in the trailer at the time the fire began.

People who live in nearby apartments called 911.

Gig Harbor firefighters managed to keep the fire from spreading into the dealership building, but the building’s exterior was damaged.

A fire investigator said the fire appears to have started accidentally.
