Only on KIRO 7: Fire rips through Renton neighborhood

RENTON, Wash. — Just before 12:30 a.m., about 35 firefighters from Renton, Kent and Tukwila rushed to the 1000 block of SE 162nd Street for a house fire.

"It was definitely crazy how fast it escalated cause it looked like a small like bon fire when it started then I heard like an explosion that's when it kind of engulfed the whole house back there," said Andrew Nguyen who called 911.

Firefighters said the flames not only destroyed one house, but also destroyed a garage and an RV.

"It was rapidly moving it was already vented through the roof when we arrived," said John Lecoq, of the Renton Fire Department.

He said it took crews about an hour to contain the fire.

Fire investigators don't think the fire is suspicious.

They believe the fire started from a yard near the house that burned.

No one was hurt in the fire.

The family that lived in the house that burned will stay with relatives in the area.
