FIRST ON KIRO 7: Burglary suspect dies running from deputies



PARKLAND, Wash. - A burglary suspect died fleeing from authorities in Pierce County after his car crashed into a pole.

The incident happened Tuesday morning east of Lakewood in the Parkland area. Deputies believe that the 19-year-old had just burglarized a bikini barista stand.

The stand is located in the 13900 block of Pacific Avenue South. The suspect was spotted near the location of the stand and deputies gave chase.

The suspect fled in a vehicle, only making it a short distance. When the suspect swerved to avoid a vehicle, he lost control and hit a pole. The crash was on Pacific Avenue South near the intersection with 112th Street South, south of State Route 512.

The suspect has not been identified.
