Fire rips through Friday Harbor restaurant, businesses

FRIDAY HARBOR, Wash. — A fire destroyed a Friday Harbor building which included a restaurant and several businesses, said fire officials.

At about 2:40 a.m. Saturday, crews responded to a structure fire at 10 Front Street.

When firefighters arrived, a building was engulfed in flames. Downriggers Restaurant, Friday Harbor Marine, Friday Harbor Yachts, San Juan Safaris and San Juan Excursions were the establishments in the building.

According to fire officials, about 25 firefighters continued to battle the fire until 6 a.m. to keep it contained to the building.

Fire officials said there were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
