TACOMA, Wash. — Quick Facts:

  • St. Joseph's Medical Center locked down for 90 minutes
  • Gunshot fired on loading dock
  • No one hit by gunfire

A Tacoma hospital was locked down for 90 minutes Monday night after a man pulled a gun during a fight and fired a shot.

Two men got into what police called a “knock-down, drag-out fight” at a loading dock at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Tacoma police spokeswoman Officer Loretta Cool said.  As the two men fought, one pulled a gun and fired a shot at the other man, but he was not hit, said Cool.

The hospital issued a shelter-in-place order as police searched for the gunman, but he managed to get away before officers could locate him.

Cool said police are looking for a 54-year-old man in connection with the shooting. The other man, 56, had minor injuries from the fight, said Cool.

Cool said the men were fighting about a woman.
