FIFE, Wash. - Fife police said a Tacoma man searching for his missing 15-year-old daughter tracked her down by spotting a posting on the website Backpage.com advertising prostitution.
Lt. Tom Thompson said the man spotted the ad and suspected the girl in the post might be his daughter. Thompson said the man asked a friend to call the number and make an appointment to meet with the girl.
When the friend arrived, he was met by two men, the missing girl and another missing 15-year-old girl from University Place. The friend told the suspects he needed to go to an ATM for cash, but instead he notified the father that his daughter was in the room, Thompson said.
The father called 911 and Fife police responded and arrested the two men on charges of promoting the sexual abuse of a minor.
Both men are expected to be arraigned in Pierce County Superior court Tuesday.
