Family of 6 forced out of burned home in Kent

KENT, Wash. — A fire at a Kent home displaced a family of six.

Crews from Kent and Maple Valley were called to the house in the 26400 block of 183 Avenue Southeast at 9 p.m. Sunday.

The first fire crews to arrive found that all the residents were out of the house and smoke and fire was showing from the south end and from under the home.

Firefighters aggressively attacked the flames from the outside and knocked down most of the fire before entering the house to search for hidden flames.

Firefighters quickly extinguished another fire found in a small attic space.

The fire caused significant damage to the crawlspace and the small attic area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The displaced family is receiving housing and other help through the Red Cross.

No injuries were reported.
