Ex-police chief convicted of stealing charged with DUI

MONTESANO, Wash. — Last year, the former Montesano Police Chief was sentenced to six months in jail for stealing from the city.

Prosecutors said Ray Sowers used police department credit cards to make $17,000 in purchases for home electronics and other personal goods.

KIRO 7 Eyewitness news has learned Sowers was arrested Monday night for allegedly driving under the influence.

State troopers said Sowers was spotted driving erratically near Montesano.

Grays Harbor Prosecutor Stew Menefee tells KIRO 7 that Sowers tested well above the legal limit and has been charged with DUI.
