OKLAHOMA CITY, Ok. - The former boyfriend of a 17-year-old Renton girl found dead in a home was arrested Monday by Oklahoma City officers, according to the Renton Police Department.
Investigators with the police department have been looking for 19-year-old Jarod Lane since Friday after a house fire in Renton, where the body of a teen girl was found.
The body was later identified as Jessica Scholl and investigators said her body had defensive stab wounds.
Police said they investigated Scholl’s death and the fire as arson and homicide.
Officers started looking for 19-year-old Lane as a person of interest. Lane was later identified as a suspect, according to Renton police.
Police said Lane was last spotted buying gas at a station in North Bend on Friday.
Enid police, of Oklahoma City, confirmed Monday morning that employees at a Walgreens reported seeing Lane, but he left the store when officers arrived.
According to an Oklahoma TV station, KWTV, Lane was spotted and recognized by his Facebook photo.
He was taken into custody in Guthrie, in Oklahoma City, and his car was recovered.
A friend of Scholl told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News that Scholl had called off her relationship with Lane a few days before she died.
