Everett police looking for more senior-aged victims of jailed robber

Police in Everett believe a man jailed in a brutal attack on a senior citizen is behind more crimes.

Patrick Hartness is accused of beating and robbing Harold Caywood at a gas station in August.

The 91-year-old died about a month later.

Police said they believe that a week before that attack, Hartness broke into a senior couple's home.

One of their neighbors heard about the break-in and said she was disgusted.

"I think it's just atrocious.  It's just the lowest of the low,” said a neighbor identified only as Cora. "He got in that window and he just ransacked the house.  He probably wasn't in there very long.  He took things like laptops and jewelry."

Detectives said they've also tied Hartness to two similar thefts in Mountlake Terrace but they think he has many more victims.

Officers want any senior citizens who were robbery or attack victims to come forward, so more charges can be brought against the 26-year-old.
