Shop owner, man exchange gunfire at Kent jewelry store

KENT, Wash. — An armed man attempting to rob a Kent jewelry store was shot at by the shop's owner Saturday morning, police said.

The incident happened at Bonaci Fine Jewelers in the 300 block of East Smith Street around 10:45 a.m.

Police responded to a report of gunshots and a man running from the jewelry store.

According to police, an armed man entered the store and confronted the shop's owner. They both started shooting at each other. It is unknown at this time who fired first or the number of shots fired.

The man ran out of the store and fled in an unknown direction.

Police described the armed man as black, wearing dark clothing and a hoodie.

Police told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News no one was hurt.

Authorities will continue to investigate the incident.
