EATONVILLE, Wash. —

A drill to prepare emergency responders for a school shooting and the takeover of a school bus was held in Eatonville Tuesday morning.

The active shooter drill was at Eatonville Middle School and involved several public safety agencies, including Pierce County Emergency Management.

Information gained during the drill will be used by the state to improve emergency response to threats to public safety.

About 240 people participated in the simulated threat. It caused a temporary closure of at least one side street and other traffic disruptions.

Eatonville's Swanson Field was closed to private landings and takeoffs during the drill, due to aircraft used in the drill.
