Kent apartment fire displaces 8

Eight residents were displaced after a Kent apartment fire.

KENT, Wash. - A Kent apartment fire displaced eight people early Sunday morning, fire officials said.

The fire happened in the 9700 block of South 248th Street.

After 1 a.m. a resident reported the fire and police in the area reported smoke coming from a third-floor unit.

Authorities helped with evacuating residents from the building.

When crews arrived, they found the fire burning in floor and wall spaces.

Fire officials said four units of the complex were damaged.

The Red Cross and the complex’s manager are assisting the six adults and two children who were displaced by the fire.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
