BELLEVUE, Wash. — A man barricaded himself inside a Bellevue condominium Thursday afternoon after fleeing from police who were seeking him in connection with a smash and grab burglary at the Bellevue Square Nordstrom.
Police they located the 34-year-old man at about 2:45 p.m. Thursday while they were trying to recover a stolen bicycle. He was wanted for two felony burglary warrants linked to high-dollar crimes, one being the Nordstrom burglary on Dec. 28, 2015.
While officers were trying to get the bicycle back, the man fled in a stolen car, according to Bellevue police. A detective received minor injuries during the man’s escape.
The man barricaded himself inside a condominium in the 14700 block of Northeast 31st Street. Police said because it was possible that the suspect may have been armed, the Bellevue SWAT Team, Crisis Response Team and a Seattle police K-9 team were called to the scene.

The standoff kept residents who live in the development from entering or leaving and out of an abundance of caution, nearby homes were evacuated.
Initially, several attempts to contact the man were unsuccessful, but after repeated tries, the man eventually responded and followed officers’ instructions. He was safely taken into custody.
The incident ended at about 7:45 p.m. and residents were allowed return to their homes.
