Driver leads authorities in chase from Mercer Island to Seattle


SEATTLE - A driver led authorities on a chase early Sunday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The chase started on Mercer Island around 1 a.m. when troopers attempted to stop a speeding and deviating vehicle on westbound Interstate 90 at East Mercer.

When the vehicle did not stop, authorities continued the pursuit.

After the driver exited the freeway, the vehicle’s front tires fell apart.

Troopers attempted to use a pit maneuver to stop the driver but it was unsuccessful.

The vehicle struck a parked vehicle on Airport Way and Seventh Avenue in SoDo.

The driver was booked into the King County Jail for eluding and could face other charges.
