Driver flees after hitting skateboarder in South Seattle

SEATTLE — Police said a driver struck a skateboarder in South Seattle Wednesday and then fled the scene.

Seattle police said the driver of a silver Toyota Camry struck a 22-year-old man skateboarding in the Industrial District about 2:20 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was hit when he tried to cross Airport Way South near South Alaska Street.

The Toyota's driver’s side headlight and bumper were damaged, and the driver's side-view mirror was broken off in the collision.

The car, believed to be a 2011 Toyota Camry LE or SE, never stopped and was last seen heading southbound on Airport Way South.

The skateboarder is in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center.
