Detectives seek witnesses in I-405 crash in Bothell


BOTHELL, Wash. - The Washington State Patrol is seeking witnesses of a Bothell collision that left a driver critically injured.

According to the State Patrol, the crash happened Tuesday afternoon in the southbound lanes of Interstate 405 at State Route 527.

An investigation showed that a Volkswagen SUV was on the on-ramp from SR 527 to southbound I-405 when it drove off the roadway to the left. 

The vehicle crossed a median between the on-ramp and the mainline and entered the southbound lanes of I-405, where it hit a Freightliner tractor. The driver in that vehicle was not injured.

Troopers said excessive speed was the cause in the crash. 

According to the State Patrol, the driver in the Volkswagen was critically injured in the crash. He was also charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving. 

Detectives are seeking witnesses to the crash and anything that lead up to it.
