Detectives seek witness in Lake Stevens stabbing death

LAKE STEVENS, Wash. — Detectives are looking for a witness who may have information on events that led up to the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old woman in Lake Stevens in June.

Phillipa Evans-Lopez was found dead inside of a home June 17. Police said she was stabbed two dozen times and her throat was cut.

On Tuesday night, a Spokane man was arrested for investigation of first-degree murder in the death.

Officials with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said detectives are investigating the events that led up to Evans-Lopez’s death.

According to statements made the suspect, another person joined him and Evans-Lopez between June 13-16. He described the other person as a woman with blonde hair believed to be 18-22 years old.

Authorities believe that she may have left behind a sports jersey in the vehicle they were riding in, which was a red GMC sports utility vehicle.
