Deputy helps deliver baby at Snohomish Co. intersection

A deputy helped deliver a baby boy on the side of the road in Snohomish County on Tuesday night.

When patrolling the streets, Snohomish County Sheriff's deputy Poteet was flagged down by a man near the intersection of 88th Street Southeast and 115th Avenue Southeast.

The man’s wife was in labor.

“The baby refused to wait for paramedics and at 11:06 p.m. ‘Doctor’ Poteet helped deliver a [healthy] baby boy,” the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office wrote on its Facebook page.

Paramedics arrived to help the new father cut the umbilical cord.

Both the mother and baby are doing well.
