Shelton woman shot after answering door

SHELTON, Wash. — Mason County deputies are searching for two men involved in a shooting at a Shelton woman's home Wednesday morning.

The woman was taken to St. Peter's Hospital in critical condition.

According to Chief Dean Byrd, deputies received a call about the shooting just after 3:30 a.m. A woman answered her door and saw two men on the other side. One of the men shot the woman, and the two men took off on foot.

Mason County deputies set up a perimeter in the area to search for the suspects but so far have been unsuccessful in locating anyone.

It is unclear if this shooting is a random attack or if the woman somehow knew the suspects.
