Arrest made in Lynnwood fatal hit-and-run

LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Police arrested a man Monday in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian crossing the street on Thursday.

The man was hit by a car while crossing the street in the 17200 block of Highway 99.  Witnesses said driver hit the man while heading southbound on Highway 99, then did a U-turn and took off northbound.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries. He died at the hospital a short time later.

Lynnwood police followed several leads provided by tipsters, and the vehicle involved in the crash was found at a home in south Lynnwood on Saturday, investigators said.

Police said the vehicle had been in a serious crash and the registered owner of the vehicle lived at the home where the car was found.

The driver, a 29-year-old Lynnwood man with a significant criminal history, was taken into custody around noon in Shoreline.

He will be booked into the Snohomish County Jail in Everett for investigation of felony hit-and-run, fatality-involved.
