1 killed in officer-involved shooting in Tacoma

TACOMA, Washington — Police shot and killed an active duty member of the military during a domestic violence response in Tacoma on Friday afternoon, the Tacoma Police Department said.

Police said officers encountered him on the porch of a home at 809 South M Street and the shooting occurred sometime thereafter.

It wasn't immediately clear what led to the shooting.

Police called for medics, but cancelled the call and called for detectives instead, presumably indicating that the man had died before medics could arrive.

The man was in his late 20s, police said. It isn't clear what branch of the military he was in.
