Counterfeit money surfaces at Arlington businesses

ARLINGTON, Wash. — Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for counterfeit money in Arlington.

Investigators said counterfeit cash, mostly fake $20 bills, started showing up about one month ago at businesses around the intersection of Highway 9 and 204th Street.

“They’re hitting places like fast food [places], your local Subways, gas stations, convenience stores, 7-11, places like that. So that’s where we’ve asked folks to be on the lookout,” said Kristin Banfield of the Arlington Police Department.

Police are looking through surveillance video hoping to identify a suspect.
