Congressional candidate offers gun giveaway on campaign website

KIRO 7 is looking into the gun giveaway from a Washington congressional candidate.

KIRO 7 reached out to Republican Clint Didier of Pasco by phone, text, email and twitter on Thursday.  But the U.S. House hopeful and his media contact did not respond.

Didier’s campaign website asks people to submit their names, zip codes and email addresses.  Anyone who does that will be entered to win one of two pistols or an AR-15 assault rifle.

The campaign site says the contest shows his unwavering support for the 2nd Amendment.

"All these shootings are occurring at gun-free zones by individuals on some type of drugs with mental issues," Didier said. "The guns are not pulling the trigger, the people are pulling the trigger. These gun-free zones are enticing people to go to these areas to do these terrible deeds,  Didier told the Tri-City Herald.

Didier is an Eltopia, Washington native who went on to win two Super Bowls as a tight end with the Washington Redskins.  He is now an Eastern Washington farmer.
