Car hits pole, sparks brush fire in Federal Way



FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - The driver of a vehicle that crashed into a pole, causing a nearby brush fire overnight in Federal Way, remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.


According to Federal Way Police, the accident happened around 1 a.m. in the 400 block of Southwest Dash Point Road.


For unknown reasons the vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole. The vehicle caught fire and that fire quickly spread to some nearby brush.


The driver was trapped in his burning car until rescue crews were able to free him.


The condition of the driver was not available, but police said the injuries are life-threatening.


The road was closed to traffic for several hours Thursday morning as a major accident investigation team remained at the crash site.
