Police: Flower shop robber taken into custody

SEATTLE — A business owner in the International District helped police nab a man who is suspected of robbing a flower shop.

On Tuesday morning, a man robbed a flower shop in the 600 block of South Jackson Street.

Police said the man implied to the owner that he had a gun.

When police responded to the shop, officers searched the area, but the robber got away.

The Seattle Police Department obtained still photos of the robber from surrounding business surveillance cameras, and the police released a bulletin that was distributed to area businesses and officers.

On Friday afternoon, a business owner called 911 after seeing a person who matched the description in Hing Hay Park at Maynard and King streets.

Officers responded to the scene, but the man was no longer there.

Minutes later, officers found the man in the 600 block of South Jackson Street near the flower shop.

The owner of the flower shop went outside and immediately recognized the man.

Police took the man into custody and he was booked into the King County Jail on investigation of robbery.

The incident remains as an active and ongoing robbery investigation.
