Burien man arrested in death of 8-month-old daughter

King County sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of an 8-month-old girl in Burien.

BURIEN, Wash — Police said the child's father, 27-year-old Ahmed Ibrahim, lives in an apartment on 177th Place with his wife and three children.  Probable cause documents said Ibrahim was alone with the children Monday after his wife left for work about midnight.

When she returned about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, she found her husband on the couch with the 8-month-old, who had head and facial injuries and was cold to the touch, documents said.

The child’s mother rushed the baby to a family member’s apartment and called 911, but the baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

The county medical examiner identified the victim as Nawal Hussein.

Police said that during an interview with officers, Ibrahim said his 2-year-old daughter had caused the injuries when she kicked and pinched the baby.

An examination at the scene by staff from the medical examiner’s office determined that the child died of multiple blunt-force trauma injuries to her torso and head and that the child would have died shortly after the injuries were inflicted, a police report said.  Staff said it was highly unlikely that a 2-year-old caused the injuries.

Ibrahim was booked into the King County Jail Tuesday for investigation of homicide.
