Burglars break into home, set door on fire

SEATTLE — A Seattle woman woke up to find burglars breaking into her home and setting a fire early Wednesday morning, police said.

Gail Gislason showed KIRO 7 Eyewitness News the laundry door of her home after burglars burned it.

Gislason said the smoke woke her up. When she unleashed her dogs, the burglars ran out.

“That was my first thought, was what if my whole house burned down? You know, it’s not normal people break into houses, but you never hear them setting them on fire on purpose,” said Gislason.

The burglars left a locked, stolen car and stolen property.

A similar burglary-arson happened at a Edmonds home in March, where burglars broke into a condo, stole electronics and set a laundry door on fire.

KIRO 7 alerted detectives in Edmonds about the two similar cases.
