BONNEY LAKE, Wash. - Firefighters beat back a brush fire near Bonney Lake that started at 50 by 50 feet and grew to about two acres and for a time threatened homes Sunday.
Crews from agencies throughout the area were called in to help tackle the fire near the Falling Water community off of 181st Avenue East.
According to firefighters on the scene, when they arrived, flames were 25-30 feet in the air and some trees were also on fire. Fortunately, the wind changed and began blowing the fire away from the houses shortly after soon after.
The fire was contained by about 4:00 p.m. Firefighters stayed on the scene putting out hot spots until about 8:00 p.m. Firefighters said they would monitor the fire scene overnight.
