BREMERTON, Wash. - Detectives are looking for a man involved in a Bremerton robbery earlier this month.
Police said a man reported that he was robbed at gunpoint while walking to work in the 100 block of Montgomery Avenue on July 2. The man’s cellphone and backpack were taken.
Investigators used the victim’s provided suspect description along with security camera footage to develop suspect information.
Authorities identified the suspect as 20-year-old Lewis Thomas.
Detectives got a search warrant for a home in the 1500 block of Olympic Avenue on Tuesday and recovered several items taken in the robbery, including the clothing worn during the incident.
Lewis was not at the location during the search warrant.
Police said Lewis recently arrived in the area from Louisiana and may be going back to the state.
“For someone to be robbed walking to work in the morning is very serious and our detectives have been working hard on this case,” said Bremerton Police Chief Steve Strachan. “Somebody knows where Thomas is located, and we want to get him off the street as quickly as possible.”
Police said an arrest warrant for first-degree robbery has been issued by the Kitsap County Court, with nationwide extradition and $500,000 bail
Thomas should be considered armed.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Lewis should call 911.
