Man killed in head-on crash in South Seattle

SEATTLE — One man was killed and another seriously injured after a head-on crash in South Seattle.

Shortly before 3 a.m. Friday, Seattle Fire Department crews were called to the crash in the 5300 block of Fourth Avenue South in Seattle’s Industrial District.

Police said a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup was headed north on Fourth and a 1997 Toyota Camry was headed south when they collided near the intersection of Fourth and Bennett Street.

The driver of the Camry was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Initial reports indicated that one or both vehicles may have been traveling as fast as 90 mph, but investigators haven't confirmed that or said if drugs or racing were factors.
