Boy falls down crevasse near Rattlesnake Lake

KING COUNTY, Wash. — The King County Sheriff’s Office said search and rescue crews responded after a boy fell into a crevasse at Rattlesnake Lake Tuesday.

The 8-year-old boy appeared to have fallen 12 to 15 feet.

Video from Chopper 7 showed rescuers standing on large rocks with a rescue line going down into the crevasse.

The boy’s father was with the child about two miles from the trailhead.

By about 2:15 p.m., fire and medics had reached the boy.

He was placed on a litter and hoisted up to safety by 3:30 p.m.

The boy was awake and complaining of back pain.

His condition is not known.
