Boeing does 2nd 787 flight test

SEATTLE — Boeing did another 787 test flight on Monday as it tried to find out what caused battery problems that have knocked the plane out of airline service.

Monday's flight took off from Boeing Field in Seattle.

Federal officials grounded the 787 on Jan. 16. The order barred Boeing test flights, too. Boeing won permission for test flights last week, and the first one was conducted on Saturday.

Boeing says the flight was uneventful. The flights are being done on one of the six test planes Boeing used for flight testing before the plane went into full production.

Last month a battery caught on fire soon after a 787 landed in Boston. Less than two weeks later another battery problem forced an emergency landing in Japan.
