PORT TOWNSEND, Wash. - The body of a man was found in the water Sunday morning in Port Townsend, police said.

The body was discovered at the Port Townsend Boat Haven.

Just before 8 a.m., crews responded to a 911 report of a body that appeared to be floating in the water.

The man was identified as 49-year-old Richard B. Finn of Port Townsend, who lived on a boat at the marina.

Finn was last seen around 5 a.m. when officers stopped to check on him in the front of West Marine 2428 Washington Street, near Boat Haven.

Authorities said Finn was evaluated because he appeared to have been consuming alcohol. When no cause for medical concerns was found, he was escorted to his boat. An officer and aid personnel ensured Finn was in the cabin of his boat.

Investigators are still determining the cause of death.
