LYNNWOOD, Wash. - Lynnwood Police searched Gold Park after a man’s body was found there on Sunday afternoon.

The park is a 6-and-a-half acre wooded oasis near 200th Street Southwest and Highway 99.

Danny Stolzheise called KIRO 7  Eyewitness News when he saw a huge police presence in the usually quiet neighborhood.

“The only thing I can think of is the only reason they would caution something off and have a whole bunch police here is a dead body or something like that,” Stolzheise said.

A Lynnwood detective tells KIRO 7 that a couple strolling through the park found a body late Sunday afternoon. The body is a man in his 50’s and he appears to have died recently. There was no confirmation of the rumor neighbors are hearing that the man was shot. Police are asking the medical examiner to determine how he died

Will Riddle lives across the street.

“My first though was they found a body,” Riddle said, “my second thought is that it has something to do with we have some homeless folks who kind of camp next to our property line out here, I notice they were gone instantly they set up here they cleared out of their encampment.”

Police said they do not believe there is a threat to the surrounding neighborhood. They plan to continue the search for evidence on Monday.
