Big Fish and KIRO 7 Cares raise over $11,000 for Ben Towne Foundation and pediatric cancer research

February 11, 2013 — Pediatric cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among U.S. children (NCI).

On average, for every dollar that is given to cancer research, childhood cancer only receives three cents.

Ben Towne Foundation, Big Fish, and KIRO 7 Cares partnered together for the month of January to raise funds for pediatric cancer research through the Until A Cure Is Found campaign. Viewers were asked to join the fight against childhood cancer by donating online or by subscribing to Big Fish Unlimited. For each new subscription in January, Big Fish donated $3 dollars to Ben Towne Foundation.

A grand total of $11,960 was raised from the Until A Cure Is Found campaign. The funds were presented to Jeff and Carin Towne on Monday, February 11, at Big Fish headquarters.

"We are very grateful to be included in the Until A Cure Is Found campaign," said Ben Towne Foundation co-founder Jeff Towne. "As a young organization, we are just beginning our third year, it is a big deal to us not only financially but also the awareness brought by the PSA. 100% of the funds will go directly to research accomplished at the Ben Towne Center for Childhood Cancer Research Center, located right here in Seattle."
