Officers recover 400 pairs of jeans from Beacon Hill couple

Seattle, Wash. — Seattle Police detectives arrested a 63-year-old husband and his 58-year-old wife Friday after finding 1, 590 stolen items at their house.

Officers recovered 400 pairs of jeans, perfume, toiletries, purses and shoes that they believe were purchased for pennies on the dollar from downtown shoplifters.

Police found additional stolen items in a storage locker that belonged to the Beacon Hill couple in the 1100 block of Poplar Place S, including seven boxes full of stolen jeans. Most of the items came from department stores and individual shops in downtown’s retail core.

Seattle police estimate that the combined retail value of the items is around $150,000.
